SMOKEHOUSE est composé de cinq musiciens et existe depuis novembre 1997. Trois d'entre eux sont déjà des noms bien connus de la scène Rock française pour avoir fait partie de plusieurs groupes qui ont chacun eu leurs heures de gloires en d'autres temps.
Rémy LAERON a chanté dans VOIE DE FAIT, Hervé RAYNAL a composé, entre autres, la majorité des riffs de guitare d' ATTENTAT ROCK et Frédéric GUILLEMET fut le bassiste de TRUST et de quelques autres formations non négligeables... Bruno MIEUSSET et Franck BALLIER, respectivement clavier et batteur, tous deux musiciens de sessions (J. HALLYDAY,...), complètent la formation.
C'est en janvier 1998 que les cinq de SMOKEHOUSE rentrent en studio pour composer et réaliser leur premier CD, ils y resteront jusqu'au mois de juillet suivant.
La musique de SMOKEHOUSE se veut avant tout mélodique et très imprégnée du son des 70's; elle suit les chemins tracés par ses pères... DEEP PURPLE, BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN...
Le groupe n'hésite pas pour autant à explorer d'autres sonorités comme la musique celtique ou des intros planantes. Les "ballades Metal" font également partie de leur univers musical. Et pour perpétuer la tradition des maîtres du Rock 70's, SMOKEHOUSE est un groupe français chantant en anglais. | | | SMOKEHOUSE's line-up consists of five musicians who formed the band in November 97. Three of them are already very well-known in the French Rock scene, due to their involvment in some very famous bands.
Remy LAERON used to sing in VOIE DE FAIT, Herve RAYNAL composed almost all the guitar-parts of ATTENTAT ROCK and Frederic GUILLMENT was the bass-player of TRUST and other famous bands. Bruno MIEUSSET (keyboards) and Franck BALLIER (drums) are two highly skilled session musicians who are much appreciated by famous bands (Johnny HALLIDAY, etc...) The five musicians spend seven months (from January to July 98) in a studio to record their first album. SMOKEHOUSE's music is deeply melodic and much influenced by the 70s sounds. The band follows the footprints of their spiritual fathers: DEEP PUPRLE, BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN... The band navigates in musical waters full of jeopardy, sometimes doing some musical intrusions into celtic or dreaming music. Metal ballads are also part of the sonic landscape they provide and, as all the 70s big names of rock, SMOKEHOUSE is a French band singing in english.
